How to connect a custom domain with Namecheap

Prepare the records in ScaleEdges

1. In ScaleEdges, open Settings → Store → Custom domain.
2. Enter your domain and select Connect domain.
3. Wait for the DNS records to appear, then note the Type, Name, and Value of each record.

DNS is the system that translates your domain name into a technical destination. An A record points to an IP address, a CNAME points to another domain name, and a TXT record can verify domain ownership.

Add the DNS records in Namecheap

1. Sign in to your Namecheap account.
2. Open Domain List, then select Manage next to the relevant domain.
3. Open the Advanced DNS tab.
4. Under Host Records, select Add New Record.
5. Choose the record type shown in ScaleEdges.
6. In Host, enter the Name provided by ScaleEdges. Use @ for the root domain when ScaleEdges shows @ or an empty name. Do not enter the full domain name.
7. In Value, paste the exact value displayed by ScaleEdges. Leave TTL set to Automatic, then select the save icon.
8. Add every remaining record displayed by ScaleEdges.

The Advanced DNS section manages host records when the domain uses Namecheap BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS. If another provider manages your nameservers, edit the records with that provider instead.

Verify the connection

Return to ScaleEdges and select Check DNS configuration. DNS changes may take a few minutes to appear and can occasionally take up to 48 hours. The HTTPS certificate will be prepared automatically after validation.

Do not delete your email service's MX records. Replace an existing record only when it uses the same host and needs to be changed to the ScaleEdges value.
