How to connect a custom domain with OVHcloud

To use your own domain with your ScaleEdges store, first add it in ScaleEdges and then copy the DNS records displayed by ScaleEdges to your registrar.

Prepare the records in ScaleEdges

1. Sign in to your ScaleEdges dashboard.
2. Open Settings → Store and go to Custom domain.
3. Enter your domain name, then select Connect domain.
4. Wait for the DNS records to appear. Keep this page open so you can copy the exact Type, Name, and Value shown.

DNS, or the Domain Name System, works like the internet's address book. It tells browsers which server to contact when someone enters your domain. An A record points a domain to an IP address, a CNAME creates an alias to another domain name, and a TXT record can be used to prove that you control the domain.

Add the DNS records in OVHcloud

1. Open the OVHcloud Domain manager and sign in.
2. Select the domain you want to use with your ScaleEdges store.

1. Open the DNS zone tab.
2. You will see all the DNS records currently configured for your domain.
3. Select Add an entry.

1. Choose the record type shown in ScaleEdges, then complete the fields with the values from your custom domain settings.
2. Save the entry and repeat these steps for every record displayed by ScaleEdges.

In OVHcloud, the Sub-domain field usually corresponds to the Name provided by ScaleEdges. For the root domain, leave it empty when ScaleEdges shows @ or an empty name. Do not add your full domain if OVHcloud already appends it automatically.

Verify the connection

DNS changes may take a few minutes to appear and can occasionally take up to 48 hours. Return to Settings → Store → Custom domain and select Check DNS configuration. ScaleEdges will automatically activate HTTPS after the configuration has been validated.

Do not delete the MX records used by your email service. If an A, AAAA, or CNAME record already exists for the same host, compare it with the ScaleEdges value before replacing it.
