How to create upsells in ScaleEdges

Unlock a targeted post-purchase offer after a customer buys a specific product or version.

An upsell is a post-purchase offer. A customer unlocks it after buying a trigger product or a specific version of that product.

This is different from cross-selling: cross-sells recommend another product in the cart, while upsells become available after the qualifying purchase.

Before you create an upsell

You need at least two products:

  • one trigger product that unlocks the offer;
  • one or more different products to promote.

A completely free product or version cannot receive an upsell discount.

Create the offer

  1. Open Marketing → Upsells.
  2. Select + New upsell offer.
  3. Enter an Internal offer name.
  4. Under Unlocked after buying, choose the trigger product.
  5. Optionally select one Required version. Leave Any version selected to accept every version.
  6. Choose a percentage or fixed-amount discount and enter its value.
  7. Under Products included in the offer, select one or more products. For versioned products, choose all versions or only specific versions.
  8. Configure the deadline, customer-facing content, and pricing rules.
  9. Select Create upsell.

The trigger product cannot also be one of the promoted products.

Choose a deadline

ScaleEdges supports three deadline modes:

  • Duration after the trigger purchase gives each customer an individual window; new offers default to seven days;
  • Fixed end date gives every eligible customer the same deadline;
  • No time limit keeps the offer available while it remains active.

A relative duration can be between 1 and 3,650 days.

Customize what the customer sees

Under Customer-facing content, you can set the offer title, supporting text, and button text. The offer appears with the customer's purchased content and only includes eligible products they do not already own.

Control how the price appears

Update eligible prices throughout the store is enabled by default. For an eligible customer, product lists, product pages, the cart, and checkout can then show the upsell price.

If you disable this option, the special price is activated only after the customer opens the offer from their purchased content.

Coupons are not stackable with an upsell by default. Enable Allow coupons on top of this upsell if you want to permit them. Active sales remain compatible and are calculated before the upsell discount.

Edit or remove an upsell

The Upsells table shows the trigger, promoted products, deadline, visibility behavior, coupon rule, and status. Select Edit to change an offer or Delete to remove it.

Deleting an offer stops its special pricing. It does not change the customer's original purchases.
